A new story in NST regarding blogger Kickdefella intention to subpoena Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat to testify in an ongoing RM5 million defamation suit against him by Pas vice-president Datuk Husam Musa.
The blogger, whose real name is Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Aziz, also intends to subpoena Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob, Kelantan exco member Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan and lawyer Nordin Noor.
Syed Azidi's counsel Datuk Jahaberdeen Mohamed Yunoos said the application to subpoena the four persons would be made in the High Court here by next week.
Jahabardeen said High Court judge Datuk Mariana Yahya, in chambers, had also fixed Dec 18 and 19 for trial.
"Counsel representing both parties will exchange legal documents at my office at Kuala Lumpur by the end of next week," he told reporters outside the court yesterday.
"My client will call five witnesses while the plaintiff between three to four witnesses." Plaintiff's counsel Hisham Fauzi nodded in agreement.
Husam, who is a Kelantan exco member, filed the suit on Sept 19 last year claiming that Syed Azidi had allegedly posted three defamatory articles about the former in relation to the Bazaar Tok Guru scandal on the latter's blog.
The respondent applied on Oct 9 last year for the case to be transferred from the Kota Baru High Court to the Kuantan High Court.
On April 17 this year, it was transferred to the Kuantan High Court after Kota Baru High Court judge Datuk Ahmad Zaid Ibrahim recused himself from the case.
The respondent filed his defence in the defamation case at the High Court on June 27. The matter was fixed for case management yesterday.
