IPOH: THE state government is considering legal action against PAS Youth for alleging that Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir had sold the stateowned holiday house Rumah Perak in Batu Feringghi, Penang.
Zambry said he had been the victim of personal attacks by PAS, which had accused him of being involved in corruption and other wrongdoings.He said he would ask the owners of the property, State Secretary Incorporation (SSI), to look into the legal aspects.
"In October, PAS Youth accused me of selling Rumah Rakyat and recently, they lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) alleging that a redevelopment project involving Rumah Perak was given to my crony," he told a press conference on the sideline of the state assembly yesterday.
In the report to the MACC on Tuesday, Perak PAS claimed the redevelopment project was given to a company belonging to one of Zambry's special officers in Pulau Pangkor.
The report alleged that under the agreement, the developer would be given a 30-year concession to manage the project.Zambry said although Rumah Perak was in a deplorable condition, there were plans to redevelop it to generate income for the state.
"Too many baseless accusations have been hurled against me to tarnish my reputation," he said."During this assembly, they tried their best to expose BN's wrongdoing and when we highlight their mistakes, they try to divert attention and blame me for everything," he said.
He also said the Opposition should not take advantage of his leniency. MMail
